What Oklo stock represents

Oklo develops advanced nuclear technology across power generation, fuel and radioisotopes. OKLO equity gives shareholders exposure to building those businesses, including the capital requirements and uncertainty before large-scale commercial electricity delivery. It should not be read as an operating utility with an established fleet and predictable generation earnings.

The company's progress is now more substantial than an untouched development concept. It has reported initial service revenue and achieved first criticality at a test reactor. Those developments matter, but they belong to different parts of the business and should not be combined into a claim that an Aurora power plant is already selling electricity.

Aurora power and the Groves test reactor

On August 6, 2026, Oklo announced first criticality at its Groves reactor in Lockhart, Texas. Groves is a low-power test reactor connected with its isotope business. Criticality means a controlled, self-sustaining nuclear chain reaction. The company developed it through the Department of Energy's Reactor Pilot Program. Groves milestone

That is evidence of nuclear operating progress at the named facility. It does not establish commercial electricity output from Aurora, the economics of a full isotope-production business, or authorization for every future location. Keeping those boundaries clear makes the achievement easier to evaluate.

For Aurora at Idaho National Laboratory, DOE approved the Preliminary Documented Safety Analysis in June 2026. This advances the project's safety review, but a preliminary safety document is one step in an authorization process. Construction, fuel readiness, subsequent approvals and commissioning remain distinct work. Aurora safety review

DOE authorization and NRC licensing

The NRC's current Aurora page describes pre-application engagement, topical-report reviews and observation of Oklo's DOE authorization activities. Those are active regulatory steps, not a fleet-wide operating license. The NRC also retains the historical record of the 2022 application denial without prejudice. That earlier decision and the current review program should not be conflated. Current NRC project and historical application

A useful project checklist asks which facility a decision covers, which authority issued it, what activity it permits, and what remains before revenue-producing operation. A federal selection, collaboration or safety milestone should be described at that level rather than shortened to a completed commercial contract.

The company has initial revenue, but not utility economics

Oklo's June 30, 2026 filing reports $1.210 million of revenue for both Q2 and the first half. The sources were engineering and consulting, manufacturing and fabrication, and other services, primarily associated with acquisitions. It was not revenue from an operating Aurora electricity fleet. Q2 Form 10-Q

The same filing reports $3.006 billion of cash, cash equivalents and marketable debt securities at June 30. First-half operating cash use was $65.5 million, with a net loss of $81.6 million. First-half financing cash flow included substantial stock issuance. The old 2025 estimate of roughly $450 million of funding is no longer a suitable description of the balance sheet. Liquidity and cash flows

A larger financial cushion buys time and supports development. It does not make nuclear construction capital-light or eliminate dilution. Investors still need to distinguish money raised from customers' payments, interest income from operating profit, and project spending from mature plant returns.

Fuel is part of the delivery problem

Oklo's strategy includes fuel fabrication and recycling as well as reactor deployment. The Q2 filing identifies continuing expenditure on powerhouses, fuel facilities and radioisotopes. These are connected projects with their own technical, supply and approval requirements. Business and funding discussion

The claim that a reactor can use recycled material does not establish an immediately available commercial fuel supply. Similarly, an interested power customer does not by itself establish a financed plant. The schedule is only as reliable as its unresolved dependencies.

How to follow the investment case

Focus on site-specific permissions, fuel delivery, construction progress, commissioning results, binding customer economics and capital consumed. Electricity demand can support interest in nuclear power while individual developers still face substantial execution risk. A proposed date or capacity is an expectation until the relevant facility delivers.
