What is Figma Stock?
Figma's current business: collaborative design, expanded products, paid AI credits, Q2 2026 results and the distinction between growth and profit.

What Figma does
Figma provides collaborative software for designing interfaces, planning products and moving ideas toward working digital experiences. Its original strength is the shared design file: designers, developers and other contributors can review the same work rather than coordinate through repeated exports.
The product family now extends beyond that starting point. Figma Design supports interface work; FigJam supports collaborative planning; Dev Mode supports the design-to-development workflow; and Slides extends collaboration into presentations. Draw adds illustration tools, while Make can turn prompts and designs into functional prototypes or applications. Product guide
A broader product portfolio
Sites supports publishing websites from a visual workflow, and Buzz supports producing branded assets with shared libraries and templates. Their availability and beta status should be checked against current product documentation. A broad catalog is useful only if customers adopt the tools and find enough value to keep paying for them. Current product descriptions
The strategic opportunity is to keep more work connected: a design system can inform a prototype, a developer's implementation and a marketing asset. That connection can reduce repeated work. It also creates execution risk if the expanding suite becomes difficult to learn or if customers prefer specialized alternatives.
Revenue now includes seats and AI usage
Seats remain important, but describing Figma as monetizing participation without usage would now be incomplete. Q2 2026 was its first full quarter of AI-credit monetization. Management reported that customer expansion included both additional seats and AI-credit add-ons. Q2 results
On August 25, Figma increased the credits included in paid add-ons at unchanged prices. The update did not increase the monthly credit allocations included with seats. The company's FAQ still distinguishes free beta use of Weave tools and the agent in Figma Design from the credits they will consume after general availability. Credit policy
This makes engagement and monetization different questions. More use can reflect included credits, a free beta, improved efficiency or extra purchases. It is not appropriate to count all AI activity as incremental paid revenue. Changes in credit allowances can also alter the relationship between activity and billing without changing the advertised subscription price.
Q2 2026 operating results
Figma reported $370.1 million of Q2 revenue, up 48% year over year, and 136% net dollar retention at June 30. It had 15,964 paid customers above $10,000 in annual recurring revenue and 1,635 above $100,000. GAAP gross margin was 84%. Reported metrics
These measurements answer different questions. Revenue is recognized during a period. Annual recurring revenue is a defined recurring-revenue metric at a date. Net dollar retention tracks the movement of an existing customer cohort; it is not a forecast that every customer will grow spending by 36% next year.
GAAP losses and cash economics
Q2 GAAP operating loss was approximately $117.3 million and net loss was $112.2 million. The quarter included $147.6 million of stock-based compensation expense. Adjusted profitability measures exclude specified items, so they should be read with the reconciliation rather than substituted for the accounts. Financial statements and reconciliations
Stock compensation may not consume cash when recognized, but it remains relevant to shareholder economics. Likewise, a strong gross margin does not establish company-wide profitability. Product development, sales, administration, hosting and the cost of serving AI workloads must be considered together. The operating question is whether growth supports those investments without eroding returns per share.
Competition and customer value
Figma competes for both budgets and workflow ownership. Creative suites, accessible marketing tools and products that generate code directly from prompts can challenge different parts of its offering. AI can strengthen Figma's platform if it makes the shared design system more useful, while also reducing the need for some traditional steps.
The most useful evidence will be sustained paid adoption, retention, the mix of seats and usage, and margins after serving those workloads. A product demonstration or beta launch does not establish replacement of competing tools across an enterprise.
